Panhellenic and Interfraternity Councils
通过你在兄弟会或姐妹会的联谊会会员资格, 你们也成了希腊管理委员会的一员. The College Panhellenic Council (CPH) is the governing body for the five sororities. 国际兄弟会理事会(IFC)是五个兄弟会的管理机构. Each council meets regularly with chapter delegates to discuss important issues and seeks to provide quality educational programs, 服务 opportunities, and social events for the member chapters. Council officers work closely with 校园 administrators to address 希腊的生活 concerns and issues on 校园.

Our 希腊的生活 community understands that the reason students are here at YCP is to continue and enhance their education. All Greek members must maintain a minimum 2.5 grade point average in order to be in good standing with the College and their 组织. 另外, each 组织 has an elected officer or chair who is responsible for implementing the 组织’s academic plan. As a community, the Greeks strive to achieve an average GPA above the all 校园 averages. Semesterly Greek Grade Reports are published through the Office of 学生活动与迎新.

欧米茄勋章 is a Greek honor society dedicated to promotion and recognition of the highest standards of academics and 领导 within fraternal men and women. It is our belief that these individuals exemplify the characteristics of integrity, 同理心, and dedication necessary for the advancement of not only the Greek community but global communities as well. By joining the Order, these exemplary individuals combine their talents and knowledge to empower the aforementioned communities. 为此目的, the 欧米茄勋章 corresponds with the Interfraternity Council and Panhellenic Council in hosting our annual Greek Excellence 奖 for the Greek community and serving in various community outreach opportunities.

Members of this 组织 are selected each semester by special invitation only. Eligible inductees are juniors and seniors who have exemplified high standards in the areas of scholarship, 领导, involvement within their respective 组织, and within the fraternity and sorority community, 校园, and local community. Members are selected from the fraternity and sorority community who hold above a 3.0 grade point average.

The purpose of the chapter standards is to ensure the minimum York College standards are being met by each recognized chapter.

YCP要求如下:

• Maintain a chapter cumulative GPA of 2.7或以上
• Host or attend 1 academic program per year

• Raise $5 per member for a philanthropy each semester
• Meet with chapter's on-校园 adviser once a month

• Host or attend 1 hazing prevention program each semester, with 75% of the chapter in attendance

所有的期望将在每学期结束时进行审查. Failure to meet expectations and/or standard will result in sanctions determined by 校园 administration. Failure to meet chapter expectations and standards for multiple semesters within two years will result in a Chapter Review meeting. 

In addition to holding chapters accountable, the assessment forms are meant to allow the chapters to reflect on the semester's programs and give valuable assessment/feedback to the Office of 学生活动与迎新.

York College's 被欺侮 Prevention Efforts

兄弟会 and sororities, as well as other student 组织s or athletic teams, 被禁止欺侮吗. It may come as a surprise to you that it is not only a violation of College policy, but hazing is also prohibited in the state of Pennsylvania and a violation of state law.

Categories of 被欺侮
York College defines three categories of hazing.

• Harassment: Anything causing mental anguish or physical discomfort to the new members
• Dangerous: Anything that endangers the life of a new member or has the potential to cause bodily injury

我们的政策旨在促进希腊组织的价值观, and groups that do not meet those expectations and standards undermine the work and commitment of our other chapters. Our office continues to take a strong stance against the Student Code of 行为 violations and will continue to hold our Greek 组织 accountable for their actions.

Statement on Unrecognized 组织s

Some 组织s that were once recognized fraternities or sororities on 校园 may continue to operate underground despite having lost recognition from the College. These 组织s have had their recognition revoked by the institution for various reasons, 包括欺侮, alcohol and drug abuse, 风险管理违规, 未能遵守学院的政策和期望. These 组织s have in almost all cases also had their charter suspended by their international 组织 because they were not upholding fraternal 值 and were engaging in risky behaviors that endangered members and other students.

• Alpha Delta Gamma (suspended indefinitely; charter removed by National Headquarter)

• Chi, previously recognized as Kappa Sigma Rho (suspended indefinitely; charter removed by National Headquarter)

学生 are prohibited from affiliating with any 组织 or group that has had its College recognition withdrawn. 从属关系意味着加入, 冲, 承诺, accepting an offer of membership; residing in facilities that are owned, 租来的, or controlled by the group; or being involved in activity that would normally be associated with being a member of the group.
